AbilityFEST

India International Disability Film Festival

At Ability Foundation, our commitment lies in forging connections between individuals with disabilities and the wider community through art and storytelling. AbilityFEST: India International Disability Film Festival is a biennial event showcasing extraordinary films from across the globe that illuminate the experiences and perspectives of persons with disabilities.

Initially conceived in 2005 by the esteemed Shri. P.K. Nair—a revered film critic, consultant, and former Director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI)—the festival underlines universal access in every aspect: from captioned as well as audio-described films to fully accessible venues.

60 Seconds to Fame!®

One-Minute Nationwide Film Competition

In addition to its feature showcase, the festival introduces "60 Seconds to Fame!®", a nationwide one-minute film competition designed to provoke thought and inspire deeper reflection on disability issues, promoting an accurate portrayal of disability while championing an inclusive society.

Sound of Silence

International Deafness Awareness Milestone

Held at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai in September 2005 to coincide with International Deafness Awareness Week, Sound of Silence bridged the gap between the hearing and non-hearing communities.

The highlight was the screening of the silent classic Light of Asia, accompanied by live music by Shri. Sriram Parasuram and his orchestra, recreating the magic of the silent film era in a mesmerizing tribute to cinema and human connection.
