EmployABILITY2014: Job opportunities fair for persons with disabilities was held in Chennai at Kuchalambal Kalyana Mahal,
Chetput on Sunday 14 December 2014. Organised by Ability Foundation and Lions Club of Padi Shenoynagar,
EmployABILITY2014 was supported by Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment;
American India Foundation, AVT Limited and Naukri.com.
EmployABILITY2014 marks the 9th edition of this landmark event. First held in 2004,
every single edition of EmployABILITY demonstrated, with great success, that there exists a vast wealth
of human resource potential among people with disabilities, waiting to be tapped. While EmployABILITY has
been majorly conducted at Chennai, these have also been conducted at New Delhi, Guwahati and Hyderabad.
Job seekers with a great range of qualifications and experience, travelled from practically every state from
across the country to the venue of our job fairs. The participating companies too, who were present at EmployABILITY,
represented almost every segment of industry.
This year, in 2014, candidates from 23 states participated in EmployABILITY2014. Their qualifications ranged from
graduate and post graduate degrees in humanities, science, commerce, law, pharma, management and engineering.
Employers represented several sectors of industry, such as IT and ITES, insurance, consulting, pharma,
healthcare, retail, logistics, manufacturing, banking, financial services, e-commerce, FMCG and so on.
EmployABILITY brings discerning employers who are sensitive to the right to equal opportunity employment,
together with qualified candidates with disabilities, each and every one of who, is qualified for the jobs they seek.
It thus connects committed companies to a wealth of graduates, post-graduates and professional diploma holders with
disabilities, leading to mutual benefit. At EmployABILITY, the employer discovers a highly talented pool of future
employees and the candidates have the access to the right job that they are qualified for.
Preparatory Training Programme
This year, the run up to EmployABILITY included a two-day preparatory training programme, which immensely served to
prepare the candidates to face interviews with poise and confidence, enhancing their job prospects in today’s job market.
And in order to maximize the reach of these programmes, such that their benefits were extended to the maximum number of
candidates across the country, these were conducted in various cities. This time, these cities included New Delhi, Mumbai,
Guwahati and Hyderabad, apart from, of course, Chennai.
