The Award Winners

CavinKare ABILITY Award for Eminence:

Kali Vinod Tiwari (Unnao, Uttar Pradesh) Paralysed waist down at age three, Tiwari had one magnificent obsession - movement. He set up his own steel fabrication enterprise and pioneered the development of auto tri-wheelers. He has travelled across the country on his customised vehicle, raising awareness about disability issues. His life’s mission was to awaken the society to the capabilities of people with disabilities. Tiwari’s sensitisation drives, exhibitions, wheelchair rallies and clubs have been enormously successful in leading people towards an inclusive society.

CavinKare ABILITY Award for Mastery:

Anjali Arora (New Delhi) After losing her eyesight as a school student, Anjali fought with persistence and determination through educational institutions to realise her goal of becoming a lawyer. She drafted and prepared her own pleadings, practised in Delhi High Court and later in the Supreme Court arguing cases in constitutional law and civil matters. A keen traveller, Anjali is also an excellent writer. Her thought-provoking articles appear in Success & ABILITY regularly.

Neha Bansal (New Delhi) A rare spinal cord condition left Neha a tetraplegic while still in school. Refusing to allow her disability to diminish her tenacity and courage to take life head-on, she relentlessly pursued excellence and scored the 10th rank in the all-India Chartered Accountancy Final. She works with a CA firm, and in her insistence on a life of independence and empowerment we see a true inspiration for millions of others like her all over the world.
